Re-reassignment

大家好! As most of you know I got a new reassignment this week. I'm now going to the California Oakland/San Francisco Mission! I'm super excited because there will be a lot more opportunities to use and practice Chinese. I'm also glad it won't be as cold as Denver haha. I'm now leaving on Nov 24 which was my original date to leave. It's good for me because I didn't know what I was going to do for the week where I had no MTC or anything. Still so crazy that I'll finally be heading out in a little over two weeks. Also, all the other missionaries from my district that live in Utah got reassigned to Oakland. The other four that are out of state all got assigned to Utah missions so we think it has to do something with our visas.

The visa lady emailed most of us who live in Utah and told us to get the final parts of our visa done. We had to do some medical stuff at the BYU Health Center and now that that's finished they are processing our visas! I'm still not sure how long it'll take but we think we all got reassigned to Oakland because it's an easier flight out to Taiwan. I'm 很兴奋 (very excited) that I'll be going to Taiwan pretty soon. It's been crazy with all the reassignments and not knowing what's happening but I have full faith that wherever I go will be amazing.

This week me and Jackson 长老 got to lead another Book of Mormon read. During my personal study, I was looking for a chapter we could read and I came across Alma 24. It's when the Lamanites are preparing to attack the Anti-Nephi-Lehis and they make their covenant to bury their weapons of war. There were so many interesting things I found and thoughts I had. I think one of the craziest things I learned was that the Antis made their covenant when they knew the Lamanites were preparing to come against them. I always thought they had made it long before so they had no desire to dig up their weapons, but with the knowledge that they were about to be attacked they all decided to put down their weapons of war and instead thank God for their blessings. This is such a powerful story for me in the importance of keeping my covenants. They would rather die in faith than live in the sin of killing their brethren, even if there was a just cause. I know we will be blessed in the Kingdom of Heaven when we keep the covenants we have made with God.

大家好! I can't believe I'm just about done with my first transfer. We got the transfer board on Saturday and I'm staying in Hayward with Elder Vos. Elder Lopez is leaving to San Fran but we're getting a new greenie so technically Elder Vos is double training but I sorta get to train the new greenie haha. That will be fun. I also found out this week that Taiwan is closing its borders right now because of Covid so our visa process has stopped. It was super sad to hear and I'm not sure when I'll be able to go but I know this is all part of the Lord's plan. This week we had a couple good lessons with 陸先生 and he came to Church on Sunday! It was good to see him after a couple weeks and we had some members present in our lessons to help fellowship him. He is slowly progressing and getting closer to baptism.  Visiting Lude and Kai We honestly haven't had the greatest week, we've found a lot of people but a lot of times they aren't really that interested an...

大家好! Christmas week on the mission was a little weird but so awesome! We weren't able to have a lot of lessons because most of our friends were busy or gone for the week but we had a lot of great member visits. The sweaters Luda gave us Tuesday we went to Luda's again and she gave us all sweaters. Mine was too small and I think maybe a women's sweater but she made us all put them on anyway haha. We also dropped off some more homemade ornaments to members. Each time someone was home they'd always give us some food which is usually apples so now we have a ton of apples in our apartment. We met some of the less active members of our branch which was awesome. The trio Thursday didn't feel like Christmas Eve that much. We had another visit with Luda and Lai but then from 4-9 was technically P-day. Our Zone did a white elephant gift exchange which was really fun because everyone got joke gifts. One of our members Andy made dinner for the 6 of us Chinese Elders. He's ...

大家好! Wow, I'm finally done with MTC. It's been an amazing nine weeks and I've learned and grown so much. At first, I was nervous for online MTC, but it's been so much better than I thought. I've been able to feel the Spirit every day Last two classes and just have fun with my district. Even over zoom our district became such good friends and I'm thankful for their strong testimonies. My teachers were so amazing and I'm grateful for them in helping me get to where I am now. It's starting to get real that I leave next week because I've been gathering my stuff and packing up my room. I'll get to be on a flight with some people from my district including Jackson 长老 so I'm excited for that. My Chinese isn't great haha and I still have a lot to learn but I'm so excited to get out there and just start. I will say nine weeks of being at home, while great, seemed to take forever haha. One of my teachers 李老师 said that we have grown out of our...
